Odessa Mission

Stateside Trip 2006

John at Baptist Seminary- KRCC folks informed the Baptist Odessa Theological Seminary of the need for more helpers at KRCC. On Friday, December 15th, John had the chance to speak to the students in chapel at the seminary about some of the ministries KRCC currently have as well as two additional ones planned to start soon.  Please be praying that God will raise up the right people in His time.

Lunch with the Barhites - While on furlough, John enjoyed a lunch out in November with Charles and Nancy Barhite who have done a lot to help the mission.

Williamsburg Christian Church

These pictures were taken at Williamsburg Christian Church. At least one individual spoke to me at length about wanting to form a team at Williamsburg and visit KRCC, perhaps even collaborating with Gethsemane's group.  I also spoke at Highland Springs Church of Christ today, where yet another two people showed potential interest in coming over sometime in the future.

Learning more about KRCC

Eastern Christian Convention in Hershey, PA
In mid-November, John attended the Eastern Christian Convention in Hershey, PA and had a display booth for the Odessa Mission.  He met many individuals from the northeast area that he has known for some time and made many new acquaintances.  About 15 individuals signed up to receive the Odessa Mission email notifications and/or monthly newsletter.

John at ECC - John met Jennifer, who is a native Long Islander also, at the ECC and they had many things in common to talk about.  She and her husband are currently ministering in Albany, NY.   In 2007, Jennifer's dad John Sarno is scheduled to teach a seminar for "TCM" in Kherson, Ukraine.  Kherson is about 90 miles east northeast of Odessa and is located on the Dnipro River

John and Community CC - Members of the Community Christian Church in Lanoka Harbor, NJ traveled to the ECC and met with John.  Community CC is a big supporter of the Odessa Mission not only financially but also as special encouragers of the work in Ukraine.  John was glad to see and talk with them.

Lunch Break: I had a chance to share about the mission during a lunch break at Angie Fitzgerald's work place.  Angie was a part of Olivet's mission team that performed a VBS at KRCC in 2005.  Angie is seen standing at the right; the rest of the group are her coworkers.  We certainly appreciate Angie and her colleagues for extending their invitation.

Gethsemane Church of Christ

Here's the mission committee at Gethsemane Church of Christ in Mechanicsville, VA. John discussed what is happening at Kind Road Christian Church and in Odessa and several of the committee are hoping to form a team and go to Odessa at some point.  Maybe as soon as next year.  Please be praying for them as they make their decisions and begin making preparations to visit the Mission.
